Review

Dobaara - See Your Evil is a faithful remake of Oculus, with some changes to suit the Indian context and audience. The film follows the same narrative structure as the original, alternating between the past and the present, as the siblings try to destroy the mirror that they believe is possessed by an evil entity. The film uses flashbacks, hallucinations, and twists to create a sense of confusion and suspense for the viewers.

The film's strengths lie in its performances, cinematography, and sound design. The actors do a convincing job of portraying their characters' emotions, trauma, and paranoia. The cinematography by Anuj Rakesh Dhawan creates a dark and eerie atmosphere for the film, using shadows, reflections, and angles to enhance the horror elements. The sound design by Avedis Ohanian and Aditya Trivedi adds to the tension and mood of the film, using music, sound effects, and silence effectively.

The film's weaknesses are its pace, script, and originality. The film is slow-moving and repetitive at times, especially in the first half. The script by Prawaal Raman lacks depth and coherence, relying too much on exposition and dialogue to explain the plot. The film also suffers from being a remake of a well-known film, which reduces its impact and novelty for the viewers who have seen Oculus or are familiar with its story.

The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Some praised it for being a faithful and competent adaptation of Oculus, while others criticized it for being dull and uninspired. The film has a rating of 29% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 7 reviews, and a rating of 3.9/10 on IMDb based on 465 ratings. The film was also a box office flop, earning only 13.6 million against a budget of 100 million.
